Hey all, went down to the channel today for an hour, didn’t expect much but it beats sitting at home. Decided to bring 2 rods, the Alvey orbiter spin rod and the Alvey orbiter bait cast rod. I put the bait rod in( bait was corn kernels ) and started casting diving lures from the bank. A while passes and I look over to see my bait rod bent double and line screaming of my reel! I run over to it and manage to land a nice sized carp. It was 60 cm and 3 kilo. I dispatched it and threw it back into the water. great first fish for 2023, and first fish on an Alvey. In Europe eating carpas (carps) are common. They do exist here in Brazil too, I already caught a lot of them when lake fishing. Really, isn't the best fish meat, but when well prepared it fall good. I'd eat then when young.
Here, one my wife caught.

thanks, FH, carp fight very hard. luckily the orbiter has a lot of drag pressure so I could bring it in. it took out around 30 metres of line before I even got to my rod.
