I was at Warrnambool breakwater the other day & noticed an Alvey Angler fishing - The angler was fishing with an Alvey 625B Beach Classic side cast reel, but had a home made modification - On closer inspection the reel was modified by the angler to protect it from knocks & damage while resting on the breakwater concrete - The modification is a very functional & useful mod, a good ol' Aussie backyarder innovation - It is actually a good idea, it maybe not so aesthetically pleasing to some, but it is a highly functional modification - The Alvey Angler did say he uses the Alvey 625B specially for the break water, as it is a high platform to fish from & winching big Salmon, Trevally, Snapper etc, is easily done with the power of an Alvey side casts direct wind & powerful 1:1 ratio.

No reel scratches. Uncle is smart. Agree Mauricio, old uncle certainly worked it out. He fishes that area alot, so he made modifications to the Alvey, to suit his fishing spot.
