'Wayne Wright' owned & operated Southern Sportfishing in Black Rock Victoria, it was originally started by his late father John Wright & Rex Hunt in 1979 - 'Wayne Wright's' Words below - That is it. We are officially closed. On the left is John Wright (my dad) opening the shop in 1979, I worked with him part time until I took over full time in 1996. On the right is today, our last day of business. I have worked here for 43 years and enjoyed meeting every single customer and giving you the best price and service possible. Thank you for all your support over the last 4 decades and all your kind words and thoughts over the last few months. Hopefully I’ll see you all out on the water sometime soon. Over and out. Wayne Wright Wayne Wright's Southern Sportfishing tackle store was basically unchanged for over 40yrs - Wayne Wright behind the counter c.2015 - Happy customer 'John' - Wayne's Reel's were at the best prices in Australia - Shimano Twin Power - c.2015 Prices for Shimano Twin Power - Shimano Stella - Wayne had plenty of stock & his gear was always heavily discounted - These photo's were taken in c.2015, while i was visiting the store - There was always plenty of fishing rod's - Southern Sportfishing was a traditional fishing tackle shop, were anglers would come & talk fishing - There was plenty of Hook's, Line's, Lures etc - The old logo in the back ground "Where Fishermen Meet' but nowadays '2022' no longer - It is sad to see this store close it's door's, thanks 'Wayne' for your service to fishermen, i hope you get to going fishing more now The Address was @ 598 Balcombe Rd, Black Rock VIC 3193.

Saddened by hearing of the news of the passing of 'Wayne Wright'. I was talking with 'Matthew Hunt' at his place yesterday, when i somehow mentioned 'Southern Sportfishing Blackrock' has closed & what a great guy 'Wayne Wright' is & he & the store will be missed, i hoped Wayne will be happy fishing KGW in his retirement, then 'Matthew' told me the sad news 'Wayne' passed away only a few days ago - Matthew & Myself are both deeply saddened by 'Wayne's' passing. 'Wayne' was a gentleman to me & always taken the time to give advise & talk fishing for hours, i also will mention his everyday prices of fishing reels, rods, tackle etc, was the best in Melbourne if not Australia, he kept the rest honest. My deepest condolences to his family & friends 'Wayne Wright' will be missed & may he 'Rest In Peace' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Words written below are by 'Wayne's Family' - It’s with a heavy heart that we share that our amazing dad, Wayne Wright, passed away peacefully on the (5th of April 2023) surrounded by family. As some of you know, Dad battled an aggressive GBM brain tumor for the last 18 months. He put up the strongest of fights to spend as much time with us as he could, but unfortunately there is no cure. Dad spent his life looking after his customers with his abundance of knowledge and sharing his love for fishing with all. He enjoyed every moment he spent running Southern Sportfishing. We thank all of you for the constant support you showed our business throughout the years. Can we ask, if you have any happy or funny stories about Dad, to share them in the comments below ❤️ Please keep him in your hearts whenever you are out on the water 🌊🎣

Seems to be a great guy. Sad he gone so early. R.I.P. , fisherman. Although i didn't know Wayne outside of his fishing tackle shop, the time spent talking inside his tackle store was a great indicator of the great guy Wayne was. - 'R.I.P'.
