I fished at Port Fairy's 'Moyne River' estuary this evening for 2.5hrs, it was bitterly windy & cold winter weather - I was hoping for some Silver Trevally - The Silver Trevally caught below, often frequent the 'Moyne River' estuary during the cold winter months, and today's fishing weather was windy & cold - I started to catch a few Silver's & missed many more bite's - Silver Trevally fight hard & are a excellent light line sport fish - I even caught two Leather Jacket fish, these are great eating - Leather Jacket's are unusual looking fish, but quite common in Southern Victorian water's - I was glad to be fishing this quiet location, a peaceful saltwater inlet estuary - End of evening's fish i kept five Silver Trevally, Two Leather Jacket's, released a few Wrasse, Flathead & Gurnards

One can eat this fish probably all around fish restaurants Brazilian coast, like a snack to eat with beer, I personally ate a lot of them. They have too a powerfull mouth, can cut lines easy.

Yes powerful mouth, with strong tooth. I use long shank hooks, to prevent line cut.

I remember my 10 years old, fishing at Cabo Frio city, Rio de Janeiro State, in a place called Praia do Forte (Fortress Beach). I believe I'd never caught so much this kind of fish in my life. And using a simple pole from the local rocks.

Here, they are called "Carapau". We have many different Trevally family species in Australia, the Silver Trevally am catching is the smallest of the lot & grow to 10kg, also they are only found in the Southern state's in the cooler temperate water's.

I went for the 55 minute drive to Port Fairy this afternoon, for a few hours fishing in the Moyne River Estuary - Below is Martin's Point, the section where the river meets the ocean; is a promising fishing spot - Here is one inlet with a Jetty - Here is the main 'Moyne River' located at the quiet Seaside town of Port Fairy - The fishing was busy with many small Bay Trout caught & released - These little fish are fine fighters for their size - Also i caught a few under sized Silver Trevally, all caught & released - The target fish today was Silver Trevally, but only juvenile fish were biting 'All released' - I caught many little Flathead, all caught & release unharmed - It was a relaxing and enjoyable fishing trip, the sun was out with light wind's perfect winter's day

I fished the 'Moyne River' estuary again this afternoon for a few hours, a big Sting (Bull) Ray was hanging about - The Silver Trevally started biting, i caught Nine & dropped two bigger ones trying to lift them out of the water + a few small Bay Trout - I was using a 2-4kg 'Garry Howard' Estuary 7' custom rod - The reel was a Daiwa Laguna LT3000 with 8lbs mono line + 6lbs Maxima leader - Silver Trevally are great fighters & test your angling skills, also they are good eating or make great bait ..
